Congratulations to the Honiton Community College students who have been appointed Language Leaders for this academic year (the majority of whom are in the picture)! The Language Leaders Award programme is open to students who have a passion for languages and want to disseminate their linguistic expertise with the college community. The award seeks to develop leadership skills in our younger linguists while raising the profile of languages. It aims to teach young people how to lead others through basic language activities by working to develop their communication, organisation and motivational skills. Alongside organising modern foreign languages events in the college throughout the year, the programme involves students developing their planning, teaching and analysis skills and involves several visits to a local primary school to teach languages. Participants will study different aspects of communication and leadership whilst developing the necessary skills to plan and deliver successful lessons in modern languages to younger pupils. Students will also research cultural identity in the country of their chosen language and will have the opportunity to impart some of this knowledge during their lessons. Congratulations to you all!
